Alright, as we all know, burkas are coverings a woman choose to wear if following the Muslim faith. There are different variations like the niqav or the veil.

The reason I’m writing about this is because the Dutch is following the French into banning face veils as they believe they oppress women.

Huh, isn’t that a little ironic and a whole lot hypocritical?

Ok, I’m not saying there aren’t Muslims who oppress women, because there are Muslims who don’t believe in women’s rights… But then there are Christians who don’t believe in women’s rights and if we follow the old testment: Women had no rights. There are Catholics who don’t believe in women’s rights (goodbye, birth control) and there are Jews who don’t believe in women’s rights.

And believe it or not, women CHOOSE to wear a face veil. Ya, that’s right, there are women of the Islamic faith who chooses not to skank it out. Gasp.

And if you’re going to give me this crap about how in the Middle East, women get mistreated: you’re right and most of them are dominately Muslim because the majority of the population follow the Islamic faith… In the MIDDLE EAST. Look at the areas that have concentrated numbers of violence against women and you will notice they are in certain areas - have you ever thought those areas reflect the area and THAT society and not the religion??? If we say all Muslims beat women, let’s say all Christians are crazy God loving rednecks, Catholics are baby pumping, homophobic machines, Buddhists are sexless hippies chasing something they can get from a dealer and all Jews are long bearded cheapos.

It is with this “Westernized” thinking in which we generalize ignorance and create false information and weak assumptions. If you think about it, didn’t Hitler do something like that?

So in a free land like Canada, France and the Netherlands, if a women chooses to wear a head veil her choice? And if we strip them of that choice, are we not oppressing the right to dress freely, the right to follow, believe and demonstrate religion, and stripping a woman’s right to practice all those things?

Oh, and if you give me crap about how it is a threat to national security and the public because you can’t see their facial expressions or fully their eyes, then shouldn’t we ban sunglasses, chunky scarves, goggles, dickies, neck warmers, snow masks, etc.?

I will rethink my opinion when they start taking guns away from idiots, alcohol away from alcoholics, crosses and bibles away from Christians and money away from politicians.
